I worked on the production and recording of Mediocre Land, a song written by Shani Forrester and released under the band The MoonShip.
My role with the song was putting together all the musical elements that would capture the essence of Shani’s lyrics. The challenge was to mirror the song’s theme sonically, to find that balance where the music was evocative but not overpowering. Where the production supported the story without stealing its spotlight. It’s a reflective piece, perhaps, it will get you thinking about those periods in life when you feel flat, when life is uneventful, and yes, when it all feels mediocre.
