I composed the draft of this song and wrote the lyrics in an hour. Lasciame Perde flowed out of me. I guess this is what happens when you write in your native language and from somewhere deeper than the surface.

This song is a bridge between my Italian roots and my life in Australia. It is a modern ballad that recalls the traditions of Italian music, particularly with the use of Romanesco dialect.

It is dedicated to all those who chase their dreams, but also a message to take a break, to recognise that there’s no need to always race towards dreams.

“Lasciame Perde” is also a reflection on how sometimes dreams shatter due to external circumstances. It is a tribute to those who have seen their dreams fade away, reminding them that they are not alone.

The production process unfolded seamlessly. I recorded and produced the music here in Australia. Naturally, the song required a Roman singer, and I was fortunate to have help from one of my oldest friends, Viotti. He recorded the vocals of Zagaz in the same studio where I have been playing music since I was 14. Because this song was so close to my heart, I decided to make it a duo with the vocals of Zagaz and myself (note, I am not a singer but when time is not forever we shouldn’t let the ego dictate).
